Preferred Treatment Modalities Include:

Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT): focuses on the identification of distorted thought patterns, beliefs, attitudes, and coping strategies and teaches healthier ways of functioning.  It is considered one of the most effective forms of therapy for depression and anxiety.

Positive Psychology: rather than solely focusing on pathology, positive psychology emphasizes and incorporates "positive" qualities such as happiness, love, strengths and passions into one's life and relationships.

Transactional Analysis (TA): a psychoanalytic approach which guides the patient to examine, understand and change unconscious patterns that interfere with healthy functioning. Based on Freud's concepts of Id, Ego and Superego, and later developed by Eric Berne, it utilizes Inner Child, Inner Critic and Adult states to change old unhealthy patterns.

Mindfulness Practices: similar in some ways to both CBT and TA, this practice teaches patients how to distance from one's thoughts and feelings and observe oneself as a way to facilitate healthy change. Based on Eastern teachings, it emphasizes living in the present moment, acceptance and non-judgment.

Family Systems Therapy: a form of treatment widely used to understand and change dysfunctional family patterns.

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR): considered one of the most effective treatments for trauma and post traumatic stress disorder.
